6 Dec 2019 Fix VPN Error 720, Error connecting to a VPN Connection, A Connection to the remote computer could not be established on Windows 10/8/7. 3 Dec 2018 I had the same problem and it was fixed by following this procedure: Open Device Manager (Right Click on Start button and choose device  The VPN works in Windows 7 and XP. I'm not sure if this has something to do with my new laptop or if its something with Windows 8 itself. Any help would be  Do not to use DHCP to assign an IP, and specify a range manually instead for the incoming connection. Thats what fixed it for me.

I found out that it was the Static address i assigned my server from the DHCP server. since the request came from the same mac the server kept giving it the same IP address. when i removed my DHCP reservation and turned it back to DHCP on the VPN server everything worked perfectly.
